Two cars crashed into the storefront of former Boston Market in a dramatic accident after a moving vehicle collided with a parked car in Saugus, Massachusetts.
The accident occurred as a 62-year-old man driving a Volvo at high speed crashed into an unoccupied Toyota Prius on Monday night causing both vehicles to flip into the fast casual restaurant, Saugus police said.
The Volvo's driver was the only person involved in the accident, said the police. He was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. An update on his condition is not yet known.
Moving at high speed
Saugus police said that the Volvo was moving at a high speed while going northbound on Route 1, when it struck the parked car. Saugus is about 12 miles north of Boston.
"For reasons unknown the vehicle left the roadway and struck a parked car," said the police. "Both vehicles then flipped at least once and came to stop inside of 168 Broadway."
The Saugus Firefighters Local 1003, in an update on their Facebook's page said that: "It’s believed to be that a vehicle traveling northbound on Route 1 entered the parking lot and hit another car that was parked sending them both into the building."
