The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued multiple recalls last week including nearly 145,000 Kia SUVs for rearview mirror issues.
A rearview camera that does not properly display images can increase the risk of a crash, according to a NHTSA report.
Volkswagen also issued a recall for more than 47,000 Jetta compact cars for an ignition switch issue.
Car owners can check USA TODAY’s automotive recall database or search NHTSA’s database for new recalls. The NHTSA website also allows you to search for recalls based on your vehicle identification number, or VIN.

Kia is recalling 144,979 of its 2022-2023 Sorento, Sorento Hybrid, and Sorento Plug-in Hybrid vehicles because mounting clips for the vehicle's rearview camera can break, which can cause the image not to appear properly on the display and reduce the driver's rearview.
Dealers will inspect and replace the rearview camera housing, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Oct. 27, 2023. Owners may contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's number for this recall is SC280.

Ignition switch failure can cause the electrical system to shut down, the engine to stall and increase the risk of a crash, according to a NHTSA report.
Dealers will replace the ignition switch, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 27, 2023. Owners may contact Volkswagen's customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 28H7.

Dealers will replace both rear combination lamp assemblies, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed October 29, 2023. Second letters will be sent once the remedy is available. Subaru owners may contact Subaru's customer service at 1-844-373-6614. Toyota owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331.
